These chewy chocolate sesame squares are a filling, nutritious snack for when you’re craving something slightly sweet, but don’t want to sacrifice your hard efforts in the gym. They’re super easy to prepare and quick to whip up, making them a perfect on-the-go snack! Not to mention, due to their high fat content (the good kind of fat, don’t worry), they’re very filling, which is always a plus in my book. While we’re on the subject of pluses, let me just say… chocolate + sesame are combined here. Yeah… delish! Drizzle a little melted dark chocolate to turn these babies into a simple but delicious dessert!
Here’s what you need:
- 2 cups sesame seeds
- 1/2 cup honey (can use agave instead if you don’t eat honey)
- 1 Tbsp brown rice syrup
- Melted dark chocolate (70% or more), optional for drizzling
Tip: If you’re in a really chocolatey mood, rather than drizzling the dark chocolate, feel free to dip the bars in chocolate instead!
Here’s how to make them:
To a food processor, add 2 cups of sesame seeds and 1/2 cup of honey (or agave). Pulse until combined.
Add 1 Tbsp of brown rice syrup, and pulse again until it sticks together.
Transfer mixture to a sheet of parchment paper, and with a rolling pin, flatten it out (as thick as you like). Transfer to freezer for 10 minutes.
When ready, drizzle melted dark chocolate over sesame square. If you’d like to dip the bars in chocolate, skip this step.
Slice into squares, and transfer to freezer until ready to eat. Store in freezer. (If you’re dipping the bars in chocolate, do it before transferring to freezer).
